Geno Smith’s first OTAs since returning to the New York Jets went without any drama. The issue began after it ended. A woman named Kristen accused the veteran Jets quarterback of assaulting her and neglecting their special needs child.
Smith sealed a move back to the Jets earlier in the year, following a disappointing 2025 campaign with the Las Vegas Raiders. A few months later, Kristen showed up at his house and recorded a video, accusing him of negligence.
She claimed Smith prefers watching adult content and playing video games instead of taking care of his kid. She further alleged that he broke her computer, threw out her purses, and took money from her car.
Geno just beat my [expletive], that’s why… You ran outside and attacked me, [expletive].
She screams in the clip
Moments later, Smith is saying,
She just called the police.
According to multiple sources, the police reached out to Smith and opened an investigation. Meanwhile, in a separate post, the mother of Smith’s only child, Seven Santana Smith (born in 2019), set the record straight.
Geno [Smith] is and always has been more than capable of taking care of his son. Let’s kill that narrative. Don’t get on the internet, bringing my son into your web of dysfunction.
She wrote
The statement from the child’s mother only focuses on Smith’s parenting skills. She avoided addressing the assault narrative.

Jets head coach made bold prediction about Geno Smith
The Raiders won just two games in 2025. With Pete Carroll no longer at the helm, the Raiders also opted to move in a different direction by trading Smith to the Jets in exchange for a seventh-round draft pick.

The Jets weren’t great either. Aaron Glenn won one extra game than the Raiders did in his debut year as the Jets’ head coach. It was Glenn who campaigned for the Jets to bring Smith back and give him a second chance. Glenn believes Smith is the right man for the job.
I just feel like he’s the guy that’s going to lead us to the promised land.
Glenn said at the annual owners meeting (H/T ESPN)

So, not just the playoffs, but a Super Bowl victory. The Jets haven’t won a final since Joe Namath clinched the victory back in the NFL’s earliest years. More importantly, they currently have the longest active playoff drought in America’s top four sporting leagues (NFL, NBA, NHL, and MLB).
Smith has only ever made one appearance in a postseason game, back in 2022, which ended in a defeat. Regardless, Glenn is confident in Smith’s abilities as a signal caller.
I do know that, man, there are some things that he knows he can correct. He’s at fault on some of those, but there are some things that he knows that he’s going to get better at, and I look forward to him doing that.
Glenn said
The Jets have a fairly inexperienced quarterback room besides Smith. They have former Patriots and Chiefs QB Bailey Zappe, second-year Brady Cook, and rookie Cade Klubnik on the roster. It’s unlikely that the Jets will carry four quarterbacks with them to the regular season, so one of them could get cut on the final 53-man roster selection day.
