Over the past two months, Geno Smith has seen his reputation take major hits after first joining the New York Jets and then getting entangled with the law.
A move to one of the worst franchises in the league is bound to draw some trolls. After all, the 35-year-old joined the team after throwing the most interceptions and drawing the most sacks last season.
Everyone felt that now joining the Jets to be their starting quarterback was a confirmation that the two-time Pro Bowler was hitting rock bottom.
Then came the allegations from one of the mothers of his children that he had allegedly assaulted her. Such news is normal in the NFL, but her second allegation drew some sharp criticism.
This woman accused the veteran signal caller of neglecting to take care of his special needs child. She even called 911, which is why the Davie, Florida, Police Department decided to launch an investigation.
In the midst of this, Hayley Eastham, the mother of Smith’s son, countered those claims by posting how good a father the 2022 Comeback Player of the Year is.
Feelings aside, it seems the Davie, Florida, Police Department found nothing to charge Geno Smith with. Per Rich Cimini, they have decided to stop the investigation unless they receive further information.

The Geno Smith case, stemming from a June 21 dispute with a woman at his home, has been declared inactive by police.
The investigation has concluded and no charges are being brought. Future investigative action is contingent on additional…
It seems this was coming, considering the woman did not follow up with any accusations or other charges. However, the Jets QB decided to speak up and reveal something that may have turned the investigation in his favor.
Geno Smith accused woman of attempting $20 million theft
When police arrived on June 21, they noticed two scratches on the right side of Geno Smith‘s face, as well as a knot on the back of his head. The woman in question had a small cut on her right hand.

It so happens that this entire situation came about when this woman in question was attempting to get away with the Florida native’s jewelry.
Smith claimed she proceeded to enter his office, where she took “approximately $20 million worth of designer watches and jewelry” and attempted to flee.
TMZ revealed
Per TMZ, when Smith realized there was a commotion in his house, he went out to see this woman inside his house without his consent. He had apparently requested this woman, who also happened to be his manager and his son’s caretaker, to leave his child with his mother.
Instead, he noticed her leaving with a bag in her hand, which is why he followed her to her vehicle. In that process, she landed some punches, which is probably why the quarterback sported those scratches.
When Smith took her laptop from her car to force her to give up the bag she initially took, she apparently followed him and tried to get away with his jewelry. Since neither of them decided to press charges, the police may have felt it was better to drop the investigation.
Geno Smith making it a habit of running in with police
This incident was not the only time the Davie Police Department had interactions with Geno Smith. Since he spends most of his offseason at his home in Florida, he has also broken the law a few times, becoming accustomed to it.
The New York Jets quarterback’s latest run-in with the Davie Police Department occurred at 11:20 a.m. on July 6 after he was accused of going 25 mph over the speed limit near his mansion in Davie.
NY Post reported
The officer who pulled the quarterback over first complimented the star for owning a beautiful Aston Martin. Then, he made it clear that the athlete was going ‘too fast’ for the limit.
