“The bag was too heavy”- Carlos Tevez once launched himself as a Pro Golf CADDY for fellow Argentine compatriot Andres Romero
Carlos Tevez
Carlos Tevez had a rather controversial career in football. The Argentine always made his presence felt on the football field with his tenacious and hard-working performance. Tevez played in some of the biggest teams in his career, the most controversial of those were the Manchester clubs divided by the red and blue color. A dynamic player in his prime, Tevez had the ability to play wherever his manager told him, be it upfront as a striker or on the wings.
There was a time back in 2012 when Tevez made his debut as a professional caddie when he was carrying the golf bag for another Argentine Andres Romero in the final round at the Royal and Ancient Club Open Championship. However, Jim McArthur, the committee chairman termed Tevez’s stint with the bag as “absolute madness”.
Carlos Tevez made some serious headlines when he crossed over to the other side of Manchester back in 2009. Tevez who developed a keen sense of Golf while in England became quite the friends with fellow countryman Andres Romero who helped him to reduce his handicap to 13, a much more respectable score.

Carlos Tevez wouldn’t have given two thoughts about what the officials had to say
Tevez, an avid golf fan however could not assist Romero with his suggestions but certainly enjoyed the experience. “He never put the bag down, even when he was standing on the green – it’s just absolute madness” – said Romero who was busy concentrating on his own performance in the open championship.
Football always had a massive fan following in the world and more s in England. It was quite clear again when hordes of people were following Andres Romero as if he was some Tiger Woods or something. Peter Dawson, the chief executive said – “It was pretty interesting. I thought, because of the big crowd following the group, that golf fans and football fans may overlap a little more than I had realized. It’s not a bad thing, perhaps.”
Tevez definitely enjoyed his experience at the golf course as a caddie. He exclaimed – “The chance to walk along the course and to be around these great players is a pleasure and something unforgettable. It was good to enjoy the last day with him. This was the dream of everybody who plays golf. It was my first major! It was difficult to carry the bag because it weighed so much but it was fine.” Carlos Tevez at the moment was on unofficial leave because of his shenanigans with Manchester City manager Roberto Mancini.
