Dustin Johnson recently won with his team at Sunday’s LIV Golf Adelaide event. However, he is on the news for other reasons, mainly attributing to his alleged comments about PGA Tour commissioner Jay Monahan. On Sunday, Dustin reportedly said, “We don’t give a d**n about how he feels. We know how he feels about us, so it’s mutual.”

This quote has been defended by David Wrinkle, the CEO and President of Hambric Sports, representing Dustin Johnson and other LIV golfers such as Brooks Koepka. In an email to over 20 journalists, Wrinkle remarks the quote as “erroneous” and says the media misrepresented it.

Wrinkle writes, “I spoke with Dustin from Singapore this morning at which time he emphatically denied making any such statement. He elaborated by saying his actual response to the question was “no comment. Dustin remains grateful for his time on the PGA Tour and has the utmost respect for Commissioner Monahan.”

Dustin Johnson resigned from the PGA Tour in June 2022, following a $100 million contract from LIV Golf. While other LIV and PGA stars have been vocal and outspoken about this new schism in golf, Johnson has remained relatively quiet. He is careful not to criticize the entity, making him the golfer of his current stature.

Johnson, however, has commented on Talor Gooch’s win at the individual rankings at LIV Golf to the media. He says,“Well, yeah, I didn’t want him to win. I never want any other team to win than mine. Yeah, obviously I like Talor, and he did really well for us last year, and obviously he played great this week. But yeah, I’m glad we snipped him, for sure, just to give it to him a little bit more.”

Talor was part of Johnson’s 4Aces team in LIV Golf before shifting to the RangeGoats. Besides this, Dustin Johnson has also won the team event at LIV Adelaide with his 4Aces team. He is also considered to be one of the only LIV golfers to be called up for the Ryder Cup team U.S. if LIV players are at all allowed to play for the team.
