Last year has been quite happening for Dustin Johnson, as he quit PGA Tour shortly after his wedding. He said he based his decision on prioritizing his family. Reportedly he received $125 million to jump ships, signing a contract for 4-years.

In June 2022, Johnson noted, “I chose what’s best for me and my family”. Moving to the Saudi-backed team provided him with the seat the captaincy of LIV Golf’s 4 Aces GC squad. He partnered up with PGA defectors, Patrick Reed, Talor Gooch, and Pat Perez.

The ex-Masters champion pocketed $35 million from his LIV winnings. He’ll be captured on the greens during the 2023 LIV Golf’s Mayakoba event in Mexico. Though at first tensions were high on the 2023 Masters selection, Augusta National and Masters chairman Fred Ridley confirmed that LIV players can also participate in the event.

Fred noted, “Regrettably, recent actions have divided men’s professional golf by diminishing the virtues of the game and the meaningful legacies of those who built it.” “…our focus is to honor the tradition of bringing together a preeminent field of golfers.”

“Therefore, as invitations are sent this week, we will invite that eligible under our current criteria to compete in the 2023 Masters Tournament”. “As we have said in the past, we look at every aspect of the Tournament each year, and any modifications or changes to invitation criteria for future Tournaments will be announced in April.”

This year, the Masters will be on fire, staging the PGA tour players and the LIV golfers in the same event. DJ will surely be a participant in the event, along with six past champions – Patrick Reed, Sergio Gracia, Bubba Watson, Charl Schwartzel, Phil Mickelson, and DJ.
