Fox Sports ‘actively’ vying for LIV golf media rights as Apple and Amazon take a hard pass
FOX Sports
The thrill and passion of sports are at everyone’s heart and the media giants are the ‘way’ to those hearts. LIV Golf with every passing day is gaining traction and adding major players to its ranks. Saudi-backed LIV Golf vs PGA Tour debate has been gaining heat and making the media rounds.
There’s one major roadblock for LIV Golf – the increasing tally of media giants backing out of media and broadcasting rights for the event. PGA Tour has definitely got an edge here. Although they might have a case with FOX Sports as there are growing reports of them being muddled in for LIV’s media rights.

FOX Sports eyeing LIV Golf for its portfolio
Saudi PIF-backed LIV Golf‘s chief media officer did not shoot straight when asked about the details although he made a statement that the cash-rich golfing event is in talks with “virtually every major media company” as the media rights are about to go down the hammer.
“We want exposure. We want broad viewership,” Staeger explained. “We want to be on a platform where viewers are accustomed to watching sports.”
The LIV Golf now has been streaming its events on Facebook Live and their own Youtube channel as they struggle to partner with a television partner. Money is clearly not the issue here. Looks like PGA still has some sway in terms of big-name players and viewer rating and LIV‘s finding it difficult to compete with that despite making noise around some high-profile signings and prize money involved.
With talks going on with Fox Sports Network, it’s a wait-and-watch game for LIV to find out if the media giant is interested to take them up on their offer. Fox Sports previously signed off of golf in 2020 by selling their remaining rights over to NBC.
