Golf Rankings will become a laughing stock if LIV Golf Players not included: Greg Norman

The LIV Golf series has created its fair share of drama since inception. However, things just seem to be getting more intense as both sides are hitting back. The defectors of the LIV Series have faced severe sanctions and suspensions from the PGA Tour.

A bigger hit to the golfers comes now that they may not be awarded Official World Golf Ranking (OGWR) points. This will cause problems in qualifying for Majors, and will also mean that golfers like World No. 2 Cameron Smith will not be able to hold onto their rankings.

If LIV Players can get points from playing LIV events, it will make their lives a lot easier. Greg Norman certainly seems to think that acceptance is the key to a smooth playing environment. “It makes OWGR look obsolete if they don’t (accept LIV),” Norman told Yahoo Sports.

“If they wake up at the end of the year and Dustin Johnson is 102 in the world, is that not a laughing stock to the OWGR? There’s two ways they can go: they can either fold, or they include LIV into OWGR. We’ll move on. Everyone’s happy after that,” said Norman, commenting on the situation.

However, this conversation comes at a time when there is doubt if LIV Golfers would be allowed to play at other events. Seeing that they fared decently well at the BMW PGA Championships, one cannot deny the gross impact that the Series as a whole is having on the golf world.
