The LIV Golf vs PGA Tour match has been going on for quite a while. Some may even note that their fight is ever-green just like the golf field itself. Among these ever-so chaotic situations, another new voice has spoken up in favor of one of the tours.
The World No. 1 Rory McIlroy’s former agent Andrew Chandler, also known as “Chubby”, has voiced in for of the Saudi-backed tour LIV Golf while proclaiming that the PGA Tour has been quite “arrogant” in its behavior. Rory and Andrew parted ways in 2011 and since then the agent has played role in both fields.
As a person who has experienced both fronts, his voice carried weight in the golf world. He’s not been only with Rory, but has also been the agent for PGA Tour player Darren Clarke and has been in contact with Lee Westwood, his former client from LIV Golf.

Rory McIlroy former agent Andrew Chandler shares his view on LIV Golf vs PGA Tour war
Rory and Tiger Woods are the two most vocal people in this war field. Andrew being with two PGA Tour players and a LIV Golf member has enjoyed a good view from both sections, before stating his thoughts. Andrew stated, “I have always thought for the last 15-20 years, how has nobody thought to put up the same product?”
“Thursday to Sunday all over the world 72 holes stroke play, everywhere played exactly the same.” Often referred to as sportswashing, LIV Golf has been criticized by a number of participants as well as the golf world. Andrew recognized that the Saudi-backed Tour isn’t all about the covers, but also the foundation.
Funded by Saudi’s Public Investment Fund, Andrew stated, “There are a lot of countries apart from Saudi Arabia that have tried to use sport to legitimize their being. I am not so sure it is such a bad thing anyway”.
He believes that the PGA Tour has made a mistake by not sitting down to listen to LIV in its blossoming state. “For the PGA Tour not to sit down with LIV at any stage to discuss what they were trying to do, where they could possibly help, when there was billions of dollars going into golf was a very strange thing to do and a very arrogant thing to do,” Andrew noted.
Recently, Tiger Woods and Rory suggested that the LIV Golf CEO Greg Norman should just quit, maybe then a peaceful discussion will be on the charts. According to them, that’s the first step towards attempted peace.
No matter how much the clash between the group goes on, Andrew’s recent view has raised a thought on how people think about the war, someone from outside the perimeter.
