Team Europe clinched a memorable win at the Marco Simone Golf Course in Rome and regained the Ryder Cup back following an impressive victory over Team USA.

After a dominating display on Day 1 and Day 2, Team Europe clinched the Ryder Cup back. The hosts kicked off the tournament in a strong fashion and did not let the momentum slip by. Despite the late heroics from Team USA, they were simply too good to give up the hold. They defeated the Americans by a score of 16.5-11.5 to continue their unbeaten home run.

Coming into the tournament, Team Europe was labeled as underdog. However, Luke Donald and his team came out with flying colors and regained the crown following their huge defeat at Whistling Straits in 2021. The decisive stroke came from the clubs of Englishman Tommy Fleetwood who secured an important point and ensured their victory.

Team USA though did not go down without a fight. After suffering one of the worst starts to the competition, the team needed a miracle of performance to overturn the event. Things got worse on day 2 when marquee player Scottie Scheffler suffered the worst defeat in Ryder Cup history. The reigning World No.1 was left in tears after that defeat.

“I’m so emotional. It’s been a long process, an amazing journey,” captain Donald said after the victory. He would later describe this win as the best moment of his career. “This is why the Ryder Cup is so special to me and to these guys because of these moments. We play for each other and we get to share in that success together and we get to spend this week together and we’ll share those memories forever,” he further added.

Golf fans on social media had been refreshing their feeds every minute to get updates for the team announcements. So there was no surprise that they would step behind and not throw in their thoughts and reactions regarding this victory.

This is it for the Ryder Cup this year. The next edition will take place in Bethpage, New York City in 2025. Team Europe could see some of their stars from this year’s triumph compete again in two years’ time.
