When people of think of golf, the only name to pop up instantly is Tiger Woods. Such is his impact, he has spread the popularity of this sport worldwide. Not many might know of his father Earl Woods. However, the father-son duo had an incredibly close bond which only a few know of.
Given the magnanimity of achievements Tiger Woods has achieved, , every person related to him would be incredibly proud of him. The same could be said for his father, who is as proud of his son as the entire golf community is.
The HBO documentary on Tiger Woods, released in 2021, has several emotional elements shown, which helped make the legend. In one of the scenes, Tiger’s father, Earl, seems to be having an incredibly emotional moment realizing his son’s impact on sports and humanity.

Tiger Woods’s father, Earl Woods, was one of the most influential characters in the making of his legend. According to the documentary, Earl inspired Tiger to pick up his first golf club and show interest in the sport. Before he passed away in 2006, Earl had always been vocal about pride for his son’s achievements.
According to the Rolling Stones, Earl says, “Please forgive me, but sometimes I get very emotional when I talk about my son. My heart fills with so much joy that this young man is going to help so many people.” If Earl were alive today, he would have been awed with his chest held high, seeing how big and influential his son has grown to this point.
In the back of his mind, Earl always knew that Tiger could do great things and become an inspiration for many. He further adds, “He will transcend this game and bring to the world a humanitarianism that has never been known before.” Truly, Tiger Woods now stands as one of the game’s legends. His son, Charlie, might soon follow in his footsteps to surpass the legacy his father created.
Earl always had faith in his son’s capabilities and his positive influence, He ends his quote by sayings, “The world will be a better place to live in by virtue of his existence and his presence. This is my treasure. Please accept it and use it wisely.”
Soccer has Lionel Messi, Cricket has Sachin Tendulkar, and Golf has Tiger Woods. These individuals are why millions take up the sport and try to set a milestone. Several contemporary young PGA players, especially in the DP Tour, have taken inspiration from Tiger Woods to choose their career path. What is more interesting is that the 2021 Ryder Cup USA team, which trashed Europe in an epic fashion, was one of the country’s youngest teams to be fielded. Of course, most players look up to Tiger Woods as their motivation and inspiration to play.
Tiger Woods now tries to pass on the values his father taught to his son Charlie. Charlie is one of the emerging prospects in golf, showing incredible performance alongside his father at the PNC Championship. Tiger Woods might be the greatest of the game, but it is undeniable that his father’s contribution to his greatness is something the golf community owes big time to Earl Woods.
