“BREAKING NEWS: We don’t care!”: Twitter unimpressed by LIV Golf’s new Team Series Championship Format

LIV Golf Series

The LIV Golf series is said to bring about a new era of golf- and along with it, a lot of controversy. The golf world is currently in a split, as the LIV Series and the PGA Tour go head to head over golf. Things are getting ugly as the LIV Series, along with 11 of its golfers, have filed an antitrust lawsuit against the PGA, which is set to begin in 2024.

However till then the game must go on, and the LIV Series has something interesting plan for the upcoming tournaments. For its first three events, the LIV Series introduced a new team style format along with the individual plays. The team that wins also gets prize money, along with the individual payouts.

Now, there have been more changes to the team system. The team system will now entail the Series having 12 teams at first. The teams will be given seeds 1-12. Teams 1-4 will be given a bye in the first round, while teams 5-12 will play in the qualification round. Each round will consist of teams in a head-to-head matchup in the format of two singles matches, and one 2v2 match. Each match worth 1 point.

Twitter was rather confused by the new rules. Some twitter fans were impressed by the way the new format was coming along, encouraging a fresh new way to play golf. On the other hand, the critics did not seem to care much about the new format, and were even disappointed with the only 54 hole format for all the series.
