Rishabh Pant was awarded the Man of the Match in the fourth and final test that India won against England for his splendid hundred in his side’s first innings. Pant was in his element in the latter part of his knock as he exploded after his half-century. Before the same, he showed excellent composure and maturity to guard his wicket and not take too many risks as his side was in a spot of bother.

His knock of 101 is coming under immense praise from cricketers and experts around the world. The young wicket-keeper batsman who did not have a guaranteed place in the playing 11 during the first test in the Australia tour has now become one of the key players in the side. His rise has been nothing short of meteoric and he would only want to improve from here with more important series to come.

During the post-match presentation, after Rishabh Pant was awarded the Man of the Match for his hundred, commentator Harsha Bhogle said to Rishabh Pant, “Hume log keh rahe hai ki Pant ki keeping mein commentary band karo.” (Translation: We feel like stopping commentary while Rishabh Pant is keeping) to which Pant replied saying, “Sir ye compliment to theek hai but aap log improve karo fir thoda apna.” (Translation: Sir, if it’s a compliment then it’s okay. But still you guys, improve your commentary)

Previously, Pant had talked about his keeping and batting saying, “I think the drills have helped, and my confidence has helped, transferring it from my batting to my keeping. This was a very important innings, especially with the team under pressure. We were in a tough situation at 146-6, and there’s nothing better than performing when the team needs you the most. If I get the chance to reverse-flick a fast bowler again, I definitely would.
