Bhuvneshwar Kumar

One of the most senior fast bowlers of IPL 2020, Bhuvneshwar Kumar has been ruled out from the remaining season due to hip injury. The Sunrisers Hyderabad pacer recently picked up the injury during his team’s clash against Chennai Super Kings on Friday. The 30-year-old has claimed 136 scalps in 121 IPL games over ten editions.

As per the reports, Bhuvneshwar Kumar can take up to 6-8 weeks to recuperate, which might further rule him out of India’s tour of Australia. Coming to the ongoing tournament, SRH quickly needs to fill the massive boots of Kumar as their other Indian fast bowlers have leaked many runs so far. Let’s look at three possible options that can Bhuvneshwar Kumar’s place at Sunrisers Hyderabad in IPL 2020.

Dhawan has played for three IPL franchises: Mumbai Indians, Kings XI Punjab and Kolkata Riders in the past. His best time in IPL came during the 2014 edition, where he racked up 13 wickets in as many games for KXIP at an average of 28.07.

Karnataka pacer R Vinay Kumar is another like-for-like replacement available for Bhuvneshwar Kumar. He has played various IPL teams which include the likes of Royal Challengers Bangalore, Kochi Tuskers Kerala, Mumbai Indians, and Kolkata Knight Riders. The veteran pacer also has 105 wickets to his name in 105 IPL games.

Moreover, Vinay Kumar’s ability to bat at the lower order can also provide the much-needed depth to the Sunrisers Hyderabad lineup.

The number one choice to replace Bhuvneshwar Kumar at SRH can turn out to be their former team member Barinder Sran. He was a part of the Sunrisers camp during their 2016 title-winning campaign too. But following his unsuccessful stint at the franchise, Sran failed to grab any buyers at the auctions this year.

The Haryana pacer also represented India in six One-Day Internationals (ODIs) and two Twenty20 Internationals (T20Is).
