IPL 2020: 3 players who can replace Ishant Sharma in Delhi Capitals
Ishant Sharma during IPL 2019
Delhi Capitals (DC) have started the Indian Premier League (IPL) season 13 in UAE brilliantly with five victories in their seven games played so far. However, DC players have faced a number of injuries since the start of the tournament. Ishant Sharma is the latest addition to the injured players in the DC camp.
Delhi Capitals are having a tough time in the season due to injury troubles. Earlier off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin was injured in DC’s opening game in the IPL. However, the all-rounder made a comeback after recovering from his shoulder injury. Later leggie Amit Mishra injured his finger during the game against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR). DC are yet to announce a replacement for Mishra who is ruled out of the tournament. Another injury concern for DC was Rishabh Pant who missed the previous game versus Mumbai Indians. Skipper Shreyas Iyer confirmed in the post-match press conference that Pant would miss IPL 2020 for at least a week. The latest injury worry for DC is Ishant Sharma who will be replaced by DC soon.
Ishant Sharma has suffered a muscle tear in his ribs and is now ruled out of the tournament. The franchise has confirmed the experienced fast bowler will be missing the rest of the IPL 2020 season. Ishant missed the opening two games of IPL after sustaining the injury during a training session on 7th October in Dubai. He played the sole game for DC against Sunrisers Hyderabad and remained wicketless in the game.
Here are three players who could possibly replace Ishant Sharma for the remaining part of the tournament.
3.Sushant Mishra
Sushant Mishra is a young fast bowler from Ranchi, who represented India in the U-19 World Cup in February this year. Mishra picked 3 wickets against Pakistan in the U-19 World Cup semifinals. He is one of the few players mentored by Rahul Dravid himself after being picked in the Indian side for the U-19 World Cup in South Africa. The left-arm fast bowler was also picked as a net-bowler for the RCB camp at the start of the training session in UAE.
IPL 2020 has seen young players from the Indian U-19 team perform well in the tournament. Priyam Garg, Ravi Bishnoi, Kartik Tyagi are few of the players from the India U-19 team who made a mark in IPL 2020. Mishra could make a good addition in place of Ishant Sharma and perform to his potential if given a chance in the tournament.

2. Jalaj Saxena
Delhi Capitals might as well add another spin bowling option who could provide stability in place of Amit Mishra and Ishant Sharma. Jalaj Saxena is one of those options for the DC camp.
Saxena is an all-rounder who bowls off-break and can also provide batting options for the team. Saxena is a right-handed batsman and represents Kerala in the Ranji trophy team. The all-rounder has played 123 first-class games and picked 347 wickets with 21 five-wicket hauls. He has also managed to score 6334 runs with an average of 35.98 scoring 14 centuries and 31 half-centuries.
1. Kulwant Kejroliya
Left-arm pacer Kulwant Khejroliya could be a possible replacement for his Dehli teammate Ishant Sharma. Khejroliya was picked up by Mumbai Indians in 2017 and sold to Royal Challengers Bangalore in the 2018 season respectively. However, was released by RCB before the start of IPL 2020.
Khejroliya has impressed with his performances in the domestic matches for Delhi and could be a valuable addition for DC as an Indian fast bowling option. Having some experience of playing in the IPL with MI and RCB could be an added advantage for the Rajasthan based pacer. Being a left-arm fast bowler the uncapped player can add variety to the DC’s bowling attack.
