IPL 2020: ‘6666’ – Jofra, the soothsayer, hits CSK out of the park as his old tweet resurfaces
Jofra Archer

Jofra Archer has done it all. On the field and off it, the fiery fast bowler seems to have conquered everything in a very short career. And this time, the Rajasthan Royals bowler seems to have turned into a soothsayer.

Four years ago, when the fast bowler had not become a force that he is right now, Archer had predicted clobbering six sixes on his twitter account.

And the prediciton has gone right after he smashed four sixes in RR’s final over against Chennai Super Kings on Tuesday. Archer, one of the most destructive bowler in world cricket, showed his prowess with the bat for RR during the final over of the innings against Chennai.

In the 19th over, he smashed four back to back sixes against Lungi Ngidi (who gave 30 runs) from the first four balls of the over. His 27 of 8 ball cameo helped Royals set a target of 216/7 in 20 overs.

Fans on twitter dug out his old post where he had predicted of hitting six sixes.

Earlier in the match, the Yellow Army skipper MS Dhoni won the toss and opted to bowl first. The debutant, Yashasvi Jaiswal, failed to give a good start, but skipper Steve Smith and Sanju Samson formed a fearful 121 run partnership.

Subsequently, the partnership was broken by bowler Ngidi who sent Samson to pavilion for 74. In the end, Rajasthan Royals managed to defeat the Dhoni-led side by 16 runs.

Lack of intent shown by CSK in the second innings?

In pursuit of 216, CSK needed a great start. CSK openers struggled for the second consecutive time as the CSK lost both of them with 58 on the board in 8 overs. Sam Curran was sent in early and he did play a few beautiful shots but couldn’t last too long. Kedar Jadhav too played for a brief period.

With the requiring rate going past 12 in an over and 5 wickets down, MS Dhoni was still in the dugout.

Faf Du Plessis did score 72 off 37, however, majority of the runs came in the final few overs. It would have been better had he showed that intent a little earlier.

CSK, in the end, fell short of 16 runs. The Men in Yellow will play their next game against Delhi Capitals on Friday.
