IPL 2020: ‘Feel like everything is coming together’ – Andre Russell is ready to take on bowlers
Andre Russell 1
Kolkata Knight Riders’ (KKR) all-rounder Andre Russell is among the most feared batters in the Indian Premier League and in the world. Once Russell goes after the bowlers, he seldom stops. It is no wonder that bowlers make plans specifically for him to execute when he comes in to bat. One such thing they’ve been doing is bowling full outside the off-stump to contain Russell.
The ploy has worked so far as ‘Dre Russ’ has managed to score only 71 runs from KKR’s first 7 games. The Russell of the 2019 IPL has not turned up as of yet. Last year, Russell was in scintillating form. When he was at the crease, no target seemed out of reach. He helped pull off heists and jailbreaks to take his side home. He hasn’t been able to replicate the same this year. But the tournament is a long one and all it takes is one game for a player Russell to bounce back.
Russell sweats it out ahead of MI encounter
Kolkata Knight Riders face Mumbai Indians at Abu Dhabi today in what is crucial game for the former. The match will also be Eoin Morgan’s first match as KKR skipper after Dinesh Karthik stepped down. KKR will want Russell to find form today and help them secure an important win.
Russell made it clear that he was ready and raring to go as he sweated it out in the nets ahead of the clash. He kept middling deliveries and hitting them out of the park. Following the training session, he quipped, “Feels like everything is coming together”. Mumbai will certainly hope it doesn’t come together today of all days.
