IPL 2020 Final: ‘Taking early wickets has been my role in the side’ says MOM Trent Boult

Mumbai Indians continued with their domination in Indian Premier League (IPL) with an outstanding victory over Delhi Capitals in the finals of 13th season. The Mumbai-based franchise registered a 5-wicket win to lift their fifth title in the history of the tournament.
MI speedster Trent Boult emerged as the pick of the bowlers for his side with a brilliant bowling spell of 4-0-30-3. The Kiwi pacer took the crucial wickets Marcus Stoinis, Ajinkya Rahane and Shimron Hetmyer. His bowling efforts helped MI push DC to the backfoot, from where they could never come back in the game.
The 31-year old also won the ‘Player of the Match’ award for his 3/30 in the finals. While receiving the trophy, Boult said that he likes to bowl in the power plays. The Kiwi also revealed that have a niggle coming into the game.

“Some days I do like the powerplay. It’s been a good few months, giving the franchise a good start. With everything going on, I’ve been welcomed in the side. To have made it across the line, it’s been worth it. I wasn’t aware of the talk, but I did have a niggle coming into the match,” said Trent Boult.
Tried to take a few early wickets’
Trent Boult ended the season with 25 scalps to his name in 15 matches. The southpaw finished at the third spot in the list of most wickets in IPL 2020.
“I wanted to be on the stage, and happy I came through. I’d like to say I’m relatively experienced. Just another match and I was clear what I had to do. Tried to take a few early wickets, swing the new ball a little bit, that’s been my role in the side,” Boult signed off.
