IPL 2020 Finals: Trent Boult equals Mitchell Johnson’s record from 2013
Trent Boult
Mumbai Indians (MI) pacer Trent Boult has equaled Mitchell Johnson’s record for the most wickets taken in the powerplay. Boult took 16 wickets in the powerplays overs for MI with two wickets in the finals. He joined former MI man Mitchell Johnson who also took 16 wickets for MI in the 2013 season of the Indian Premier League.
Boult turned out against his former team Delhi Capitals in the finals and knocked Marcus Stoinis on his very first ball. He then picked Ajinkya Rahane in his next over of the powerplay for just 2 runs. This was his 16th wicket taken in the powerplay for MI in the Dream11 IPL 2020. Boult did a similar effort in the first qualifier of the tournament when Prithvi Shaw and Rahane were out for a duck.
The New Zealand bowler is known for his excellent swing bowling display throughout his career. This time he stepped for Mumbai in the finals and gave a good start for the team. Delhi Capitals were reduced to 16/2 in 2.3 overs.
Another instance when Trent Boult’s displayed his fierce swing bowling was during the ICC Cricket World Cup Semifinals against the Indian team. He got the Indian skipper Virat Kohli out LBW with an unplayable delivery. With the help of Matt Henry who took two wickets, he helped his team reduce India for 5/3 within four overs.

Pant Iyer sable DC’s faltering innings
Jayant Yadav joined Boult in taking Shikhar Dhawan wicket as DC were reduced to 22/3 in four overs. Rishabh Pant and skipper Shreyas Iyer then joined hands on the crease and took Delhi Capitals out of trouble. Rishabh Pant who has had an average strike rate of 112 in IPL 2020 so far, looked like his old self. He smashed two big sixes in one over of Krunal Pandya.
Shreyas Iyer played cautiously and played calculative shots in his innings. The duo added 96 runs in the partnership in the most vital situation for DC. Pant threw his wicket away to Nathan Coulter Nile for 56 runs. This is the first fifty for Rishabh Pant in 15 innings. An important knock for the team when they required it the most.
Delhi Capitals are fighting for their maiden IPL title in the finals of the tournament. On the other hand, Mumbai Indians are eyeing their record fifth IPL trophy.
