Delhi Capitals fast bowler, Ishant Sharma has been ruled out of the Indian Premier League 2020, the team confirmed today. Ishant had initially experienced pain on his ribs and it was later revealed that he had sustained a muscle tear.

“Ishant Sharma experienced an acute episode of left rib cage pain while bowling at a team training session on 7 October 2020 in Dubai,” the franchise said in a statement. “Subsequent investigations revealed that he sustained a left internal oblique muscle tear.”

Although Ishant was considered an important part of the Delhi Capitals line-up, Ishant played only one game this season where he went wicketless against Sunrisers Hyderabad.

DC have suffered from player injuries

Rishabh Pant has been ruled out for a week

The Capitals have had their fair share of injury troubles. Their spinner Ravichandran Ashwin had to sit out a few games due to a shoulder injury. Earlier today, it was reported that Rishabh Pant has been ruled out for a week. Now, Ishant’s news has come in.

DC have had and will have Indian pacers like Avesh Khan, Mohit Sharma and Harshal Patel to fill in for Ishant in the playing XI. However, DC are showing no signs of missing Ishant as they have won five out their first seven games.

The Capitals meanwhile, have written to the Indian Premier League Governing Council, asking for a player replacement for Ishant Sharma. A source close to the team said, “Yes, we have sent in a request to the organisers for a replacement for Ishant.”
