IPL 2020: KL Rahul rues mistakes made by KXIP in defeat against MI
Kings Eleven Punjab
Following Kings XI Punjab’s (KXIP) defeat at the hands of Mumbai Indians (MI), captain KL Rahul looked back and admitted that his teammates made mistakes that ultimately led to their downfall. KXIP faced MI at Abu Dhabi and they got off to a good start dismissing Quinton de Kock and Suryakumar Yadav cheaply.
But Rohit Sharma’s assured batting and late fireworks from Kieron Pollard and Hardik Pandya took MI to 191-4. KXIP never got going in the chase with Nicholas Pooran’s 44 the only bright spot in an otherwise disappointing display. KXIP finally fell short of the target by 48 runs.
Have to come back stronger – Rahul
“Obviously disappointing. Looking back, we could’ve got three wins out of four. This game, we made some mistakes. Important we come back stronger,” Rahul said during the post-match presentation.
Rahul further stated: “The wicket looked good with the new ball. Don’t know if it slowed after that. Another bowling option would be nice – an all-rounder option who can bat and bowl well. Will be sitting with the coaches to decide if we want to play an extra bowler.”
Also after Mayank Agarwal just about cross Rahul’s tally and got his hands on the Orange Cap, Rahul jokingly made it clear that the Orange Cap is his. “Until and unless that Orange Cap stays with KXIP, I’m happy. He’s (Agarwal) worked very hard and deserves that cap. I’m sure I’ll take it off him soon,” he said.
KXIP next face Chennai Super Kings on Sunday at Dubai.
