IPL 2020 RCB vs KKR: AB de Villiers the difference between the two sides as RCB defeat KKR by a huge 82 runs margin
AB de Villiers 73 runs innings in just 33 balls stole the show in Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) versus Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) game of IPL 2020 as RCB winning the fifth game of the tournament. This is the best start in the history of the IPL for RCB who have now won five games in seven matches played in IPL 2020.
Virat Kohli winning the toss for RCB elected to bat first who then fired up Sharjah with the help of ABD’s magnificent batting display. RCB posted 194/2 runs at the end of 20 overs with ABD making 73 and Finch scoring 47 runs.

KKR chasing RCB’s target in the high-scoring ground of Sharjah did not look in control during any of the stages of the game and were outplayed by RCB. Sunil Narine was not included in the KKR squad and his replacement Tom Banton opened the innings in his debut game in IPL. However, Banton looked nervous playing his first game of the tournament and lost his wicket getting bowled to Navdeep Saini.
Shubman Gill was the only player from KKR who showed some confidence while chasing the target. However, Gill got runout in the 10th over and a flurry of KKR wickets followed. They were reduced to 85/6 in the 14th over after 51/2 in the 8th. Andre Russell and Rahul Tripathi made 16 runs each but fell shortly after.
RCB,DC and MI in top position in points table
RCB are now in the same position as Delhi Capitals and Mumbai Indians with 10 points in 7 games of IPL 2020. The three teams have won five games out of seven in the tournament with MI topping the table with a better Net Run Rate (NRR).RCB are in the third position behind DC. KKR remains in the fourth position with 4 wins and 3 losses in the tournament.
AB Devilliers lights up Sharjah with huge sixes
Earlier, RCB won the toss and opted to bat first in Sharjah which is known as the ground for big scores in the IPL 2020. RCB started well with the opening duo of Devdutt Padikkal and Aaron Finch making a good start as usual. Padikkal and Finch both played freely and made 67 runs for the first wicket partnership.
Padikkal was dismissed by Andre Russell for 32 runs in the 8th over. Later Finch joined the opener in the 13th over getting bowled to Prasidh Krishna. Finch made 47 runs in 37 balls smashing four boundaries and a six.
Later on, AB de Villiers and Virat Kohli joined hands and RCB never looked back and went on to make 194/2 in their 20 overs. Vintage batting display from ABD saw huge sixes being hit all around Sharjah. Two of the sixes even went out of the park and the traffic on the road was disrupted. ABD’s fiery performance marked 73 runs off 33 balls with 6 sixes and 5 fours with a 221.21 strike rate. Virat Kohli shared a 100 run partnership with ABD with the latter taking charge of scoring the runs.
KKR bowling unit was short of Sunil Narine and played an extra batsman in Tom Banton making his IPL debut. The KKR bowlers turned out to be expensive with every bowler except Chakravarthy going for more than 9 runs an over.
RCB take on KXIP in their next game on Thursday while KKR take on MI on Friday in IPL 2020.
