IPL 2020: ‘Sitting out pinched him,’ BCCI President Sourav Ganguly says about Chris Gayle

Indian Premier League (IPL) is undoubtedly one of the toughest cricket competitions all over the world. Even the likes Imran Tahir, Kane Williamson, Ajinkya Rahane, Chris Lynn etc. find it difficult to make it to the playing XI of their respective franchises.
Chris Gayle is another player who missed out on the initial leg of IPL 2020 for Kings XI Punjab. The ‘Universe Boss’ warmed the bench for the first seven matches of the Punjab-based franchise before finally getting a game against Royal Challengers Bangalore. He announced his arrival in style after scoring a brilliant half-century in that encounter.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) President Sourav Ganguly also talked about this thing while speaking to Star Sports. Ganguly said that sitting out must have ‘pinched’ Chris Gayle but that pain hides in his laughter.

“We all think Chris Gayle keeps laughing and roaming, but it pinched him that he has been made to sit out. These are the things to see and learn from. IPL is just too much competition,” Sourav Ganguly said to Star Sports.
The entire tournament is wow: Ganguly

On being asked about his favourite moment of this year’s IPL, the Board President said it is difficult for him to pick one moment or performance. But he took the names of KL Rahul, Mayank Agarwal, Mohammed Shami, Jasprit Bumrah, Shikhar Dhawan, and the DC pace duo of Anrich Nortje and Kagiso Rabada.
“I think the entire tournament is wow. I can’t pick one moment from it. KL Rahul’s batting, Shikhar Dhawan’s batting, some of the fielding, Jasprit Bumrah’s bowling, the way Anrich Nortje and Kagiso Rabada have bowled, the way Mohammad Shami has bowled. Mayank Agarwal’s batting in this format,” he added.
