IPL 2020 – SRH v RR: Rahul Tewatia and Riyan Parag pull off a stunning chase for the Royals

Riyan Parag and Rahul Tewatia struck superb knocks to recover Rajasthan Royals from a real spot of bother and win the game against Sunrisers Hyderabad in the Indian Premier League 2020. The chase seemed to be going nowhere before the duo got together to take their side home.

With the win, RR jumped to sixth in the points table. SRH on the other hand, find themselves at the fifth spot.

Khaleel Ahmed began an SRH onslaught in the chase by sending back both Ben Stokes and Jos Buttler in the Powerplay. Stokes was making his first appearance of the tournament for RR and he will be kicking himself that he couldn’t do anything of note for his side. Captain Steve Smith, then got himself run-out as RR tottered to a score of 36-3 in the Powerplay. Robin Uthappa and Sanju Samson tried to bring the innings back on track but had no clue to Rashid Khan’s wily leg-spin.

However, Riyan Parag and Rahul Tewatia had other ideas as they kept the scoreboard ticking before launching a stunning assault to take RR home. The Indians showed the way for the Royals when their overseas players faltered. Tewatia finished on a match-winning 45 off 28 while Parag finished on 42 off 26.

Manish Pandey comes good

Earlier on, Sunrisers won the toss and chose to bat first. They got off to a slow start in the Powerplay where they lost the in-form Jonny Bairstow. However, skipper David Warner and Manish Pandey stitched together a good 73-run partnership. Warner was dismissed for 48 by Jofra Archer while Manish Pandey was dismissed for 54.

Kane Williamson and Priyam Garg then provided the final flourish to the innings as SRH got to a respectable total of 158. Kartik Tyagi, Jaydev Unadkat and Jofra Archer picked up a wicket each.
