IPL 2020: ‘We lost the game in the powerplay itself,” DC skipper Shreyas Iyer after defeat against SRH

Delhi Capitals (DC) suffered their third consecutive defeat of Indian Premier League (IPL) 2020 during the match against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH). Shreyas Iyer and co lost the game by a massive margin of 88 runs while chasing a mammoth total of 220. This loss has put up several questions in front of the Delhi-based franchise over their qualification for the playoffs.
DC skipper Shreyas Iyer looked very disappointed after the match. He said that they lost the game inside the powerplay after conceding 70 runs from the opposition. He also said that this loss would motivate them to come back stronger in the next clash.
“Definitely a big loss for us but you can’t really bog down from this point of time. We still have two games left, but one win is really important, that’s what we are waiting for since the last three games. Back-to-back losses are going to put us under the pump. The boys are really strong, really motivated, and this loss is definitely going to motivate us,” Shreyas Iyer said at the post-match presentation ceremony.

“We lost the game in the powerplay itself. Getting 70 runs in the first six overs was really commendable, and the way they went after our bowlers was amazing. We need to have that strong and positive mindset. These losses are not going to put us down. As a team, we have been doing amazing throughout so these few matches shouldn’t get into our heads. Next match, we’ll see to it that we have done our studies right, we’ll also see to it that we are putting in our best efforts on the field.
Difficult to make a call at the toss: Iyer

Shreyas Iyer won the toss and surprisingly, opted to bowl first at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium, Dubai. His decision turned out to be a disaster as SRH openers David Warner (66) and Wriddhiman Saha (87) slammed big runs for their team. Manish Pandey also played a quickfire knock of 44* runs at the end to help Hyderabad post 219-2 on the board.
“It’s really difficult to judge what to do on this wicket because it keeps changing any time, so the best thing is to lose the toss. I was contemplating whether to bat or to bowl, unfortunately, I won the toss (laughs). We decided that the dew factor will play a massive role, but the ball was stopping a bit. It was really difficult to get off to a great start,” Iyer added.
