The long-standing rivalry between Conor McGregor and Team Khabib is showing no signs of slowing down anytime soon. Both parties genuinely hate each other, and don’t back down when it comes to publicly shaming one another. Recently, the UFC lightweight champion Islam Makhachev took a jibe at the ‘Notorious,’ further extending the bad blood.
Islam Makhachev had closely experienced Khabib Nurmagomedov‘s beatdown of McGregor back at UFC 229. As a young fighter, he has also seen McGregor in his prime days, being unstoppable with a nasty left hook. However, in a recent interview, the pound-for-pound number one shared his thoughts on the current version of McGregor.
He will never be the same as he was before the fight with Khabib. He can’t forget. The most he can do is hit an old man in a bar, get into a squabble with a woman, spit on people. That is all he is capable of at the moment.

Makhachev cleverly pointed out the recent McGregor incident, where he spat on a fan chanting Khabib Nurmagomedov’s name. This controversy came after the Irishman sparked backlash for making racist remarks directed at Nurmagomedov and his team members. McGregor’s controversial behavior, including offensive comments and confrontational actions, has remained a consistent pattern in recent times.

Instead of focusing on his comeback and training, fans believe that McGregor is more focused on partying. On top of that, random online rants and civil lawsuits have further ruined his image. Once known for his fighting style and inspirational personality, McGregor has changed a lot in the last few years.
UFC veteran details Conor McGregor’s loss to Khabib Nurmagomedov
In his prime, Conor McGregor showcased unmatched precision, knockout power, and charisma, dominating opponents with lightning-fast striking. His mental warfare, confidence, and ability to predict outcomes made him a global superstar, capturing UFC titles in two weight divisions. His biggest motivation was hunger, but the fire ran out after making hundreds of million dollars.

The biggest change took place when McGregor fought legendary boxer Floyd Mayweather in 2018. It turned out to be the biggest cross-platform fight which earned McGregor’s around $130 million. According to UFC veteran Joe Rogan, that fight ruined McGregor ahead of the Khabib Nurmagomedov clash.
Conor was so f****** good on his feet back then. Conor McGregor who beat Eddie Alvarez faced Khabib, it would have been a completely different fight. This is post-Floyd (Mayweather fight). You get ready for a boxing match, you gotta take six months when you’re doing any takedowns, no leg kicks, no nothing.

After getting destroyed by Nurmagomedov at UFC 229, McGregor was never the same. Inconsistent performances and injuries further affected his professional career. Currently, his fans are desperate to see the ‘Notorious’ get back inside the octagon, but the chances are slimmer with time.
