Many have made it clear by now that this is the season when the likes of Joe Burrow and Ja’Marr Chase have to lead the Cincinnati Bengals to a meaningful season if this experiment is to continue.

The franchise has been blamed for letting its superstar quarterback down several times over the past season, and it might be treading a dangerous path if nothing comes of it this year.

They may not have had a brilliant offseason, but have tried to put together a team that can at least help them get into the playoffs, where the hope is that the collective brilliance of their top players can pull them through.

That means both Burrow and Chase, along with their improved offensive line and defense, have to produce exceptional performances once the going gets tough.

AFC teams have improved, and there is no margin for error. That is why situations like what they experienced earlier in practice will strike fear in anyone supporting the Bengals.

While practicing a simple go route, the superstar wide receiver got off the line as well as he generally does. But then, he had to slow down to adjust to Joe Burrow’s throw.

That allowed starting corner DJ Turner to catch up, and he swatted the ball away. However, while doing so, he accidentally clipped Ja’Marr Chase‘s left knee, changing the way his feet landed on the ground. The 26-year-old was then seen clutching his knee and limped off the gridiron.

Bengals fans burn social media after watching Ja’Marr Chase go down

This clip instantly went viral, amassing millions of views since the injury happened to one of the Cincinnati Bengals’ most important players. Their fans were livid that Ja’Marr Chase had suffered an injury that could have been avoided.

Some were quick to blame Joe Burrow for underthrowing the ball, while others blamed DJ Turner for colliding with his teammate. Teammates injuring others have led to some tense situations in practices across the league, and the last thing Bengals fans wanted to see was one of their own taking out an important piece. Check out examples of those reactions below.

Injuries such as these happen regularly in practice. Players take the rest of the day off, get fixed, and return. But since this was Ja’Marr Chase, explains why Bengals fans went livid.

Ja’Marr Chase dismisses fears he suffered a significant injury

Some fans believed that the way Ja’Marr Chase clutched his knee suggested he may have suffered a significant injury. It was similar to the way Patrick Mahomes clutched his knee when he tore his ACL and MCL. However, the wideout later clarified to reporters that he was fine.

Just a football play. Misstep. Missed my footing and just a little tweak. But I’m fine. I feel good… If I had a game tomorrow, I’d play.

Ja’Marr Chase said

The LSU alum added that the medical staff termed this injury as a ‘little hyperextension,’ and that he was not worried about it after he gave himself time to get back on his feet.

Chase was confident that he was not taking time off and would resume practice tomorrow. This should alleviate any fears Bengals fans have about their No. 1 downfield weapon.
