The 2026 LIV Golf season saw Jon Rahm claim a 3rd consecutive individual championship. On Sunday, he wrapped the LIV Golf Indianapolis event with a runner-up finish, 1 shot behind winner Michael La Sasso. Following this, the former World No.1 gave a cheeky response to a question regarding his future.
A few days back, a report from The Telegraph raised some questions regarding Rahm. As per James Corrigan, the LIV sources were “almost resigned” to the conclusion that Rahm would leave the league once the season is over.
The Spaniard sent shockwaves across the golf community in December 2023 by joining LIV. According to reports, he joined the breakaway tour in a deal worth between $300 to $600 million.
Since then, he has gone on to become one of the top draws in LIV. This year, he clinched a 3rd straight individual title, finishing top with 1,057 points.
Earlier this month, LIV Golf CEO Scott O’Neil announced that the league had secured a new lead investor and will have some changes in the 2027 season. Just a few days after that, reports of Rahm’s potential exit from LIV surfaced.

Rahm’s future remained a point of discussion during the event in Indianapolis. Following the round on Sunday, the 2-time major champion was asked what he was looking for to decide his future. During this, he gave a cheeky response.
I’m looking forward to going home and helping my very pregnant wife with the kids because it’s a 3-v-1 right now. It’s probably a 4-v-1 with the one that’s due in October. Happy to be dad for a few days before I get back for the Irish Open, but mainly looking forward to a haircut tomorrow morning at 10:00 a.m. because I need one badly.

As part of his commitment to the conditional releases granted by the DP World Tour, Rahm will play in a few European events. So far this year, he has played in just one DP World Tour event, the Genesis Scottish Open, where he finished T36 with scores of 73-65-68-70.
Rahm and fellow European golfers are required to play in a few European events to maintain their DP World Tour membership. This membership is required to be eligible to play in the Ryder Cup.
Initially, Rahm was against the conditional releases and fired back at the European circuit. However, he later agreed to this as well and settled some backlogs of fines in May.
Jon Rahm’s Legion XIII won the 2026 Team Championship
This Sunday saw Jon Rahm lift another trophy. While he missed out on the LIV Golf Indianapolis title, his team, Legion XIII, were crowned the 2026 Team Championship winners.

Earlier, the Team Championship event was originally stated to take place from August 27 to 30 at The Cardinal in Michigan. However, amid uncertainty regarding their future, the league canceled the team event. As a result of this, the Indianapolis event became the finale to crown the team champions for the 2026 season.
The team of Rahm, Tyrrell Hatton, Caleb Surratt and Tom McKibbin started the final round with a 1-shot lead. They soon established a 10-shot lead, with each member having a strong start.
In the end, they finished with a 44-under par score, 6 shots ahead of HyFlyers GC in second with a 38-under par score. This saw Legion XIII successfully defend the team championship title.

With this, LIV Golf 1.0 is in the books. For the 2027 season, the league will be structured as LIV Golf 2.0 with 10 events (5 team majors and 5 team signatures). It remains to be seen whether Rahm will be there to lead the team again.
