LIV Golf 1.0 is done. On Sunday, the league wrapped up the 2026 season with the conclusion of the Indianapolis event. While there is still some uncertainty regarding their future, Bryson DeChambeau has expressed confidence regarding this and claimed that “there’s a lot of potential” for his league.
In April this year, LIV Golf suffered a major blow when the Public Investment Fund (PIF) pulled the plug on its funding. Saudi Arabia’s sovereign wealth fund, which had invested over $6 billion, withdrew its financial support.
The tour has found a new lead investor and will undergo some big changes. Under LIV Golf 2.0, there will be 10 events (5 team signatures and 5 team majors) in the 2027 season.
DeChambeau, who is in the final year of his deal with LIV, reflected on LIV Golf 1.0 and spoke about the future on Sunday. While the 2-time major champion admitted that there were some bad moments, he seemed confident about what was going to come next.
I think there’s a lot of potential moving forward. … I’m proud of the fact of what we’ve done, the good and some of the bad that we’ve unfortunately had, things that have occurred. … I think there is something fun coming.

Speaking of the Indianapolis event, DeChambeau did find himself competing for the title. In the final round, he exchanged blows with Jon Rahm.
In the end, the Crushers GC captain finished T3 with a 6-under par score in the final round on Sunday. He finished 2 shots behind the winner, Michael La Sasso, and 1 shot behind Rahm.
As for the season standings, he finished 2nd with 788 points, 269 points behind Rahm in first at 1,057 points. Joaquin Niemann picked up the third podium finish with 565 points.
Bryson DeChambeau recently claimed his league needed one more shot amid criticism
Ever since their inauguration, LIV Golf has faced heat several times. Many have criticized the tour for causing a divide in the game of golf. As the league prepares to usher in a new era, Bryson DeChambeau claimed that they needed one more shot.

DeChambeau was one of the defectors in 2022. The 2-time major champion left the PGA Tour and joined LIV Golf in a deal reported to be around $125 million.
In the past few seasons, he has established himself as one of the top draws in the league. He has also defended the league and has been a staunch supporter of it.
Before the Indianapolis event, a report claimed that LIV Golf sources were “almost resigned” to losing Jon Rahm. Ahead of the PGA Tour’s BMW Championship, World No.2 Rory McIlroy took a shot at the league when he was asked what value some LIV golfers would bring if they came back.

DeChambeau then fired back. While the golfer did not mention McIlroy’s name, he expressed that his league did bring value to the game of golf and hoped people were a bit open-minded and would give them one more shot.
I hope people can see that we actually bring value to the game of golf. My wish is that people give us one more shot and be open-minded.
Bryson DeChambeu told the reporters

Amidst all of this, DeChambeau’s contract is one thing to look out for. With his current deal set to expire this year, he will need to sign a new contract if he were to play in the 2027 LIV Golf 2.0 edition.
The one thing LIV Golf would hope to avoid is losing both Rahm and DeChambeau in the same window. Only time will tell what happens to his and his current league’s future.
