New York Knicks guard Jose Alvarado says he would welcome Taylor Swift back to Madison Square Garden after her appearance during the 2026 NBA Finals.
Speaking to Us Weekly on June 18 during a post-parade celebration at Tonita’s Caribbean Social Club in Brooklyn, Alvarado reflected on Swift attending Game 4 of the Knicks’ championship series against the San Antonio Spurs on June 10.
That’s a surreal superstar, and I was happy she was cheering us on… And (she) seemed like she was having a good time, and we won, so even better.
Swift was seated courtside during the game as the Knicks staged a dramatic comeback from a 29-point deficit to defeat the Spurs 107-106. Alvarado suggested the singer should return more often. He added:
She got to come more often.
The Knicks guard also joked about Swift’s engagement to NFL star Travis Kelce, a fan of the Cleveland Cavaliers:
The house gonna be divided, one side gonna be a loser, and then one side gonna be a winner.
Kelce proposed to Swift in August 2025, and the couple are reportedly preparing to marry later this year. He was not with Swift at Game 4.

Swift attended the game alongside longtime friends Alana Haim, Este Haim, and actress Mariska Hargitay. The group drew attention for wearing customized Knicks-themed shirts. Swift and Hargitay wore shirts reading “Stevie Knicks,” a reference to Fleetwood Mac singer Stevie Nicks.
Alana and Este Haim wore shirts featuring wordplay inspired by Nickelback and actress Nicole Kidman. The Knicks went on to win the NBA championship in five games, securing the franchise’s first title since 1973.
Taylor Swift’s finals appearance sparked attention beyond the court
Swift’s appearance at the Finals became a topic of discussion among fans and media personalities after television broadcasts frequently showed her reaction to the game.
Some critics argued that coverage of the singer distracted from the action on the court. Actor Hank Azaria expressed that view during a June 11 appearance on The Dan Le Batard Show.

Others defended Swift’s presence, pointing to her visible enthusiasm throughout the game. Shannon Hart, the wife of Knicks player Josh Hart, said she appeared fully engaged with the contest.
The customized shirts worn by Swift and her friends also generated attention. In an interview with Vogue published June 11, Alana Haim revealed that Swift initiated the idea for the designs.
I got a text from Taylor that was really the text that you want to get as an amateur screen printer. She said, ‘I want to wear this shirt to the game, can you make it for me?’ I was like, ‘I thought you would never ask, this is my dream.’ Whenever I start out a session with a friend, I go, ‘Let’s talk about fonts, let’s talk about sizing,’ and (Swift) came up with Stevie Knicks.
Days after Swift attended Game 4, the Knicks closed out the series to capture their first NBA championship in 53 years. Alvarado later described the achievement as a historic moment for both the team and the city, following New York’s long-awaited return to the top of the league.
