The Jacksonville Jaguars made a splashing headline this offseason, but not for acquiring any player but for offering their star linebacker a lucrative contract deal for five years. The franchise has locked in Josh Allen for a prolonged period by making him the third highest-paid defensive player in the NFL. 

As per ESPN Adam Schefter’s sources, the Jaguars have signed star linebacker Allen, to a massive five-year contract worth $150 million, including $88 million guaranteed. Earlier in the offseason, the franchise put a franchise tag on the two-time Pro Bowler until both parties came up with a satisfactory deal.

The linebacker was set to receive $24 million next season after coming off his best season by making a franchise record of 17.5 sacks. Moreover, he is one of the most consistent players across the league, given his stat ranking of sixth with 228 pressures and tenth in 32 sacks.

Before the 2023 season, Jaguars general manager Trent Baalke picked up the fifth option of Allen’s rookie contract, giving him a prove-it season in 2023. The 26-year-old excelled in his ability by having one of the best seasons as a defensive player in the history of the league.

As the news broke on the internet about the Jaguars securing their star linebacker with a lucrative deal of $150 million, fans couldn’t help but wonder what’s in the future for another star linebacker, Micah Parsons. This offseason, the Dallas Cowboys have remained one of the most inactive franchises stepping into the upcoming drafts with mere words of being all in for the 2024 season.

Not only they didn’t ink any free agent despite having prominent perspectives, but also remained silent about the contract situation of their star players– Parsons, Dak Prescott and CeeDee Lamb.
