The sixes in the ongoing Caribbean Premier League have caught the eyes of most cricket lovers around the world. With the massive hits, some record lists too have appeared in bold for the fans to cherish. In a local tournament, a West Indian great has inched his way further in a bid to cross another West Indies legend.
Despite retiring from international cricket and the Indian Premier League, Kieron Pollard has brought up yet another record for himself in the ongoing CPL. He has now crossed 14000 T20 runs and has become only the third player behind Chris Gayle and Alex Hales to achieve that feat.
Pollard, who currently stands at No. 2 in the leading runs scored in T20 cricket, has amassed 14,077 runs in 714 matches. He stands just behind the legacy of Gayle, who, in 463 matches, scored a record 14,562 runs.

Pollard in his recent knock against the St Kitts & Nevis Patriots showed that he still has the power in him to slam big sixes as he scored a match winning 65 off just 29 balls. Pollard may not have enough time left in the tournament to get past Gayle as more than 400 runs separate the two.
However, if Pollard is able to maintain this fitness and brutality with the bat, it will not take him long to cross the maestro. Pollard has scored these 14000+ runs at a whooping strike rate of 151.10, spreading terror in the minds of the best bowlers of world cricket. He also maintained decent consistency over the course by averaging over 31 in the format.
Kieron Pollard hits another record button in the ongoing Caribbean Premier League
With crossing the 14000 run mark in the current edition of the Caribbean Premier League, Kieron Pollard has also reached a new landmark in the six hitting chart. Pollard, in his recent breathtaking knock against the St Kitts & Nevis Patriots, brought up his 950th six in the 20-over format.

He became only the second player to do so once again, behind Chris Gayle, who sits pretty with 1056 sixes in the format. Pollard got his 950th six against chinaman Waqar Salamkheil, who tossed up the ball to which Pollard cleared his front leg and smashed it over wide long on. In his brutal knock, Pollard showed that he still possesses a scary six hitting ability as he smashed 7 sixes in just 8 balls to see his side win yet another match this year.
The big West Indian is leading the charts in the current CPL with 20 sixes hit in just 6 innings. Pollard famously also leads the chart of the most sixes in the entire history of the CPL with a staggering 212 sixes to his name. One would expect the serial six hitter to extend his lead beyond anyone’s stretch before he hangs his boots.
Just like the runs, Pollard may have it in him to cross Gayle when it comes to six hitting. He is 106 sixes behind, but for a machine like him, that shouldn’t be too far away from possible despite not playing any more for the West Indies and the Mumbai Indians. This rich six hitting list further features Andre Russell in third place and Nicholas Pooran at fourth.
With four West Indian batters leading the charts, it is very evident they know how to enjoy the format. Interestingly, Pollard, Pooran and Russell all play for the Trinbago Knight Riders, and if they are to bat on reputation, it will be difficult to challenge them. Pollard potentially has six more matches in this year’s league, and one should expect that he would look to double his current tally.
