Since the 2021 World Championship wins over Lewis Hamilton, Red Bull’s Dutch superstar Max Verstappen has been unstoppable. He has won world titles for consecutive three years now. Verstappen had arguably the most dominant season ever in the sport last year, as he won 19 races out of 22. The dominant run is expected to continue in the upcoming 2023 season.
The Silverstone-based Aston Martin was one of the few teams that was able to give some competition to Red Bull and they are ready to close the gap this year. But even though the technical director of Aston Martin believes that Red Bull is beatable, the current Aston Martin driver Lance Stroll thinks otherwise. According to the Canadian driver, their goal for the season is to be their strongest and not beat Red Bull.

In all seriousness, they've been dominating the sport for the last couple of years, since the new set of regulations. And Max has also been driving outstandingly, he's on top form. So it's a challenge for sure. I don't think our goal is really to go out and beat Red Bull. I mean, we want to get there eventually. But our goal is really to just be the strongest team we can be. And we have a lot of ideas, a lot of things in the pipeline to be a much stronger team and that's where our focus is at.Lance Stroll said, as reported by racingnews365.com.
He believes most of the time they were just trying to be the strongest, which in the end has brought them some good results in 2023. They are still working hard behind the scenes, to build a car as fast so that they can eventually compete with Red Bull in the upcoming season.
Lance Stroll humorously reminisced about his cautious approach to 2024
Lance Stroll, who was injured in 2023 and missed the preseason, has revealed a lighthearted strategy to make sure he takes part in the testing. Stroll took a few rounds to catch up to the leaders. He says he is determined not to make the same mistakes this year and that he will play it safe to make it to Bahrain for the preseason testing.

My apartment is stacked with pillows and I'm not allowed to leave. I'm allowed to go running. Actually, no one told me this. I think we live and we learn every day. So I'm running, I'm watching my step while I run. No ankle twisting, none of that funny business just running in a straight stride. And yeah, just looking after my limbs, I want to get to Bahrain testing this year. So that's the game plan.Lance Stroll said, (H&T: sportsillustrated)
Twelve days before the Bahrain Grand Prix, Lance Stroll had surgery. Stroll’s 2023 absence from testing hampered the process tremendously because he was deprived of a privilege usually associated with setup work. His goal is to avoid having the wrist injury he sustained a year earlier recur. He is excited to push the car to its limits during the race.
