Lee Kyoung-hoon Prepares for Star-Studded WM Phoenix Open: Joining World No. 1 Rory McIlroy and Defending Champion Scottie Scheffler

Lee Kyoung-hoon, a 31-year-old South Korean golfer, received a major boost ahead of the forthcoming WM Phoenix Open, thanks to playing alongside baseball icon, Alex Rodriguez, better known as A-Rod, in the pro-am on Wednesday. The golfer was thrilled with the opportunity to play alongside the legendary sports figure and was impressed by his skills.
As one of the older members of a group of successful Korean golfers on the PGA Tour, Lee has gained confidence playing alongside some of the game’s biggest names and is eager to add to the wins of his compatriots, Tom Kim and Kim Si-woo.
As the 31-year-old golfer heads back to TPC Scottsdale’s Stadium Course in Arizona, he hopes to make the most of his fond memories from two years ago and focus on key aspects like putting and shot-making during the tournament.

“It was amazing. He’s an amazing guy, super nice and people love him. Every hole, there are a lot of people with him. I’m a fan. It was really exciting. He’s super athletic, has power…got so much power which I like to see,” said Lee.
The Upcoming WM Phoenix Open Boasts a Who’s Who of Golf Talent, Featuring World No. 1 Rory McIlroy and Defending Champion Scottie Scheffler, Along with the Top-10 FedExCup Standings Players and 22 of the Top-25 in the World. Lee is ready to step up and shine against the best in the business.
“I like playing against strong fields, like seeing a lot of great guys,” said Lee, “Love this tournament, a lot of fans, and Hole Nos. 16, 17, and 18 are amazing. It’s like a super big stadium especially on 16. You get nervous, but if you have a great shot, it’s an amazing feeling.”
Lee is confident about his chances at the WM Phoenix Open, given his previous experience at TPC Scottsdale. Further Lee said,
“I played well here two years ago. A lot of good memories for sure. I remember putting well that week. I’ll try to hit more greens and good putts. My main focus will be to get the putter to work. I had an off week, and I worked on my iron shots and tee ball and focused on shot-making,”
South Korea has a thriving golfing scene, and Lee is proud to be part of it. As one of the elder players in a group of successful Korean golfers in the PGA Tour, Lee was among those who took part in the Presidents Cup last year.
“Playing with JT (Justin Thomas), Scottie (Scheffler) … previously two years ago, I did not have much experience, but now I’m getting more confidence playing with these guys,” said Lee. “We now have a lot of great Korean guys and every week, we are playing well. We’ve got (Im) Sung-jae, Tom, and Si-woo, and there’s very good competition among us, and we are cheering each other. I’m very happy with this and it’s very good for us.”
