Luka Doncic has been one of the best players in the NBA this 2023-24 season. Doncic has single-handedly carried his side, the Dallas Mavericks in crucial matches this season. Not only that, the Mavs and Doncic are in the 2024 NBA Finals. Notably, former NBA legend Kendrick Perkins hilariously shared his opinion of the Texas people’s opinions regarding their star man, Doncic.

Perkins claimed in a recent exchange with Brandon “Scoop B” Robinson on Scoop B Radio that Doncic is welcome into any BBQ in the Black American household. He also claimed that he could walk with no security due to the immense admiration and popularity the Mavs’ Doncic holds in the hearts of the Texas people.

Among Mavs supporters, Doncic is without a doubt their favorite player. On the sports side, Doncic has been at his flying best throughout the season and also in the NBA playoffs. As of yet, in 70 games this season, Luka Doncic averaged 33.9 points, 9.8 assists, and 9.2 rebounds as per StatMuse. In addition, Doncic was also crowned the WCF Finals MVP for his monstrous performance against the Minnesota Timberwolves.

Kendrick Perkins reveals the real reason for Mavs success in NBA playoffs

During round 2 of the NBA playoffs, the top-seeded club in the Western Conference, the Oklahoma City Thunder, was defeated by the Dallas Mavericks. Following outstanding performances from players like Tim Hardaway Jr. and Luka Doncic, they played as a unit. Interestingly, despite Doncic being one of the best players for the Mavs side, Kendrick Perkins does not believe the same.

As per ESPN, Perkins asserted that Kyrie Irving should be given his flowers for his impressive performance against the Thunder in the NBA playoffs. He also stressed Irving’s capacity to take charge and alter the course of play on both sides of the court. One could argue that Irving has gone under the radar due to Doncic always stepping up in clutch moments in the game.

In addition, Kyrie Irving and Doncic share a wonderful bond on and off the court. Both the stars hold immense respect for one another and have been vocal about it in the media.
