UFC 300 saw extreme fights throughout the card. One of the best among them was Max Holloway vs. Justin Gaethje. Holloway recently paid a unique compliment to Justin Gaethje. The newly crowned BMF champion is known for his wit as much as his fighting prowess. He jokingly suggested that Gaethje possesses vibranium-infused legs.

Holloway recently came on as a guest on the Joe Rogan Experience Podcast. He reminisced about the punishing leg kicks Gaethje landed on him throughout their five-round war. He joked that Gaethje’s legs were very hard and compared them to Vibranium.

Brother, my left shin, it’s alright now. But they hurt, bro. This guy kick hard as s**t. And his bo- the way his bones… I don’t know what it was made out of. But I think so titanium. Like I like to say my, my chin is made out of vibranium, brother. He had vibranium leg, bro. I was like, he went to Wakanda too, I was thinking to myself. Like, how? I thought I only even got to go to Wakanda. I guess he went, too, you know.

The reference, of course, is a playful nod to the vibranium-laced suit worn by the superhero Black Panther. He hails from the mythical nation of Wakanda. Max Holloway‘s quip suggests that Gaethje’s metal-like limbs must have been forged from the same otherworldly material. While Holloway’s comments were made in jest, they underscore his respect for Gaethje’s toughness and durability.

Justin Gaethje refused to quit despite absorbing countless strikes over the course of their epic encounter. He made Holloway work almost until the final bell for his hard-fought victory. He even knocked down Holloway; something that was unheard of before.

Joe Rogan talks about Justin Gaethje’s ‘weird ability’

Joe Rogan couldn’t help but marvel at Justin Gaethje’s unique skillset after UFC 300. Specifically, the UFC commentator heaped praise on Gaethje’s vaunted leg kicks. This is a weapon that even the relentless Holloway struggled to counter.

Rogan broke down Gaethje’s kicking prowess with Holloway during a recent episode of his podcast. He marveled at Gaethje’s ability to kick opponents with a shorter kicking path, like in a clinch. Rogan believed that no one else had this ability to muster that much power within the short path.

He’s [Justin Gaethje’s] got this weird ability to hit your legs in the clinch. Very unique style, very unique mentality, he’s a unique guy, but the leg kicks in the clinch… It’s horrible to watch becuse you think ‘oh, we’re just clinching here,’ but he’s just killing your leg like no one can.

It’s high praise indeed, coming from a seasoned combat sports analyst like Rogan. Holloway also had a newfound appreciation for Gaethje’s unconventional striking arsenal, even though he knocked Gaethje out. Rogan’s breakdown of Gaethje’s leg kicks served as a reminder of the intricacies and nuances that make MMA so captivating.
