Micah Parsons ranks among the top pass rushers in the league. But the second-year Green Bay Packer believes he is smarter than his peers.

Since the Dallas Cowboys drafted Parsons 12th overall, the Penn State alum has won the Defensive Rookie of the Year, earned four All-Pro honors, and participated in five Pro Bowl games. His performance didn’t take a hit even after moving from Dallas to Green Bay, racking up 12 sacks in his debut campaign as a Packer.

Ahead of his second year with the four-time champions, Parsons made a bold claim about his IQ.

I think I’m above IQ than any rusher in the league.

In the offseason, the Packers appointed former Cardinals head coach Jonathan Gannon as the new defensive coordinator. Despite the change, it hasn’t taken Parsons much time to learn Gannon’s scheme.

I don’t even think it’s about the pass rush. I think it’s about commanding the defensive front. Like the way I set it up, I can dictate the slice, know where the slice is going, understand protection.

Parsons proclaimed that his IQ is higher than the rest of the pass-rushing community. Per the 27-year-old, that’s the reason he quickly acclimated to Gannon’s tactics.

I really understand football at a way better level that allows me to use those abilities like no one else does.

Although it’s hard to argue with Parsons hypothesis given his illustrious CV. Regardless, football fans disliked his arrogant tone.

Micah Parsons is set to miss the start of the 2026 NFL season

The Packers traded two first-round draft picks and DT Kenny Clark to the Cowboys to acquire Parsons last year. Parsons recorded 19 solo tackles, 12 tackles for loss, and 27 QB hits in 14 games.

Tragedy struck during the Packers’ Week 15 clash against the Denver Broncos. Parsons suffered a horrible ACL tear that ruled him out for the rest of the year. After undergoing surgery, he entered rehab. Although he’s back training with the team again, he’s likely to miss the five games of the 2026 season.

Speaking to Matt Schneidman of The Athletic, Parsons revealed that he is targeting a Week 6 return to football when the Packers face off against his former team, the Cowboys.

I think it’s very realistic. Me and the staff, we’ve got to put the work in. We’ve got to do our part to make it possible. It’s not off the board, but we’ve got to put the work in.

Parsons played against the Cowboys in Week 4 last year. He recorded a couple of tackles in a rare regular-season tie.
