Minecraft Stronghold: Locations, how to find, layout and more!

Minecraft is a sand-box adventure/survival game that allows the player to build whatever they want. However, some structures exist naturally. The Minecraft Stronghold is one such structure in the game.

Structures in Minecraft are found all throughout the Overworld as well as in other dimensions like the Nether and the End. The Stronghold is a structure that is only found in the Overworld and players can find it using only Eye of Enders.

Minecraft Stronghold

The Minecraft Stronghold is a naturally generated structure that occurs underground in the Overworld and is the only place where the End Portal is located.

Strongholds are generated mostly underground at any height randomly in any part of the world. A maximum of 128 Strongholds can spawn in a generated world. The Strongholds may have many generated hostile mobs like the skeletons, zombies, zombie villagers, creepers, witches and silverfish.

A Minecraft Stronghold can be found by using an Eye of the Ender which is obtained from Endermen.

Structure and Rooms

Structures

Strongholds can vary in size and shape and the number of rooms generated. They are made up of stone bricks, mossy stone bricks, cracked stone bricks and infested stone bricks. The infested ones have a chance to contain Silverfish.

The whole structure also contains iron grills, torches and stairs in rooms and hallways.

Rooms

Each Stronghold has a variety of rooms that serve various purposes. They either appear normally with a wooden door, iron door or iron bars or are hidden and called ‘secret doors’.

All the rooms that can generate in a Stronghold are listed below:

1. End portal room: This room is the most important and contains only the End portal frame and a Silverfish spawner. The frame is set above a pool of lava. The frame has a chance of spawning with preset Eye of Enders although it is very rare.
2. Libraries: These rooms are the classic libraries with tons of bookshelves. They may spawn 0-2 rooms of this kind.
3. Large Rooms: These are rooms which has a lot of entrances and randomly generated structures inside it. They can be divided in Empty rooms, Stone pillar rooms, Fountain rooms and Storerooms.
4. Empty Prisons: This is a room made with iron bars and iron doors.
5. Staircases: There are two variants of staircases and they are spiral staircases and straight staircases.
6. Corridors: Corridors are hallway with exists they link the rooms with each other. The best variant is the Chest corridor which contains a single chest on an altar.

The Minecraft Stronghold has a variety of Chests which contains an abundant amount of loot. The items that may be obtained in the Chests are:

• Iron pickaxe, sword, helmet, chestplate, leggings, boots
