Aaron Judge’s 62nd historic ball headed for auction after fan declines $3 MILLION offer

Aaron Judge’s 62nd ball is making its way to the Goldin Auctions House after, the fan rejected a $3 million offer, according to ESPN. The auction will be held later this month as per the Texas fan’s attorney. The historic ball was caught on October 4 at Globe Life Field, Arlington, Texas.
Cory Youman, who caught the ball, told ESPN that after having a conversation with his attorney and his family, he has decided to hold an auction for the ball, rather than holding onto it.
He stated, “after weeks of a lot of deep conversations” with sports reporter Bri Amaranthus, they thought of giving the ball to someone who could afford, it and really wanted it. That night, Judge broke the AL record standing since 1961. His achievement certainly added credit to his free market.

Cory Youman states he wanted to see Aaron Judge in person

Cory said, “It seems fair in the sense it gives anyone that is interested and has the means the opportunity to own it”. “As a fan, I’m curious to see what it’s worth, who buys it and what they do with it.” When Cory caught the ball, there was no further talk about returning it to Judge.
After Aaron Judge’s AL MVP win on Thursday night, he was informed of Cory’s decision. He stated, “That’s a lot of money. But I guess he’s got a better plan or thinks he can get some more”. “He caught the ball, he’s the one that made the play out there in left field, so it’s his right to do what he wants with it. Hopefully he’s making the right decision for him and his family.”
Furthermore, he jokingly stated that he’s currently not in a position to bid on the ball, “I haven’t signed my free agent deal yet, so I think that’s a little out of my price range right now.” the most expensive ball sold at an auction was ‘Big Mac’s (Mark McGwire) 70th home run ball in 1998.
The auction for that ball went up to $3.05 million to comic book artist Todd McFarlane. Cory’s attorney, Baron said, “We’ve already had an offer for $3 million”. “Talking to the auction people, they don’t really commit to a number, but they said it just could be significantly higher based on New York, the New York fan base and how crazy it could get at an auction.”
Cory said, he never thought he’ll catch a baseball at a stadium. All he wanted was to see Judge in person, “This game was all about seeing Aaron Judge in person”. “I am still in awe of his ability. As a baseball fan and an American, I’m just so happy Aaron is the face of America’s pastime. It’s his moment, and he’s the right man for it.”
