MLB Commissioner Rob Manfred recently appeared on the record to speak about the possibility of Oakland Athletics deviating from staying put in Oakland. The headline is that the Athletics might consider moving to Las Vegas. As a consideration, the new ballpark has been an object of negotiation as a part of the Howard Terminal Project.
Oakland has been the base of three known sports teams. These included Golden State Warriors, Oakland (now Las Vegas) Raiders, and A’s which changed drastically except for the A’s situation. The Golden State went to San Francisco and the Raiders moved to Vegas, like the considerations for A’s at the moment.
The 2025 season might be the beginning of Athletics at Las Vegas if the negotiations go south for them in the Oakland project. The ‘parallel paths’ is the exact situation for Oakland and Las Vegas stadium considerations for the Athletics team. President Dave Kaval said Las Vegas appears to be the most viable option for the team.

“Parallel paths” for Vegas and Oakland as far as MLB is concerned
The Oakland project or the Howard Terminal Project might be delayed from the schedule. This is the main reason why the Major League Baseball considerations for Las Vegas are made. “At the end of the day it’s going to come down to the public policymakers if they decide if our vision fits with the future of Oakland and the Bay Area,” – Dave said about MLB.
He said that they needed to know the stand of the authorities and that the end of the year will be an important time stamp. “I really think by the end of the year we need to know one way or another,” Kaval stated. MLB is underway this year with the eyes on the Phillies versus Astros opener at the 2022 World Series.
“Hopefully we’ll get a sense this summer in Oakland with some of the votes. Hopefully, we’ll be able to make an announcement in Las Vegas on a site soon and we can start a conversation with the community about how to bring that to reality,” he added. In the end, he said what most matters is the vote for them to fulfill their vision.
