American professional baseball pitcher Mike Clevinger joins White Sox for a 1-year free-agent ride with a guaranteed $8 million or more. The team expects the pitcher would slowly but surely retain his previous 2017 form. During the 2017-19 season, he recorded a 2.96 ERA, with a 28.3% strikeout rate, 9.1% walk rate, 40.2% groundball rate, and 447 ⅔ innings pitched.

In May Mike Clevinger retired from the Padres mid-season, after undergoing Tommy John Surgery. His surgery became a setback to his career, as he fell down to a fastball averaging 93.5 MPH compared to his previous 95 MHP. The White Sox is betting on his gameplay, to bring out his potential and make him join the elite five-front roster.

The team already has its solid rotation setup in action, only the cogs now are left to fit. On Sunday the contract news was confirmed by MLB.com,, while the first to report on it was Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic. The team itself has to further comment on the deal details. Only Mike‘s physical test remains.

After becoming one of the AL’s most consistent starters in 2022, Mike Clevinger joined Dylan Cease, Lance Lynn, Lucas Giolito, and Michael Kopech. He was acquired by the Padres during the 2020 Trade Deadline. Unfortunately, he suffered from an elbow impingement not long after his welcoming to the team.

His return on the field further got delayed as the pitcher got placed on the injured list before Opening Day. Mike started suffering from a right knee sprain while making another trip due to a right triceps strain in May. During his best years, he reached the 30-start plateau, making 32 starts, with 200 tossed innings with a 3.02 ERA, and 207 strikeouts.

The Los Angeles Angles of Anaheim selected Kyle in the 4th round of the 2011 MLB Draft. After overcoming his injuries in 2017, he stepped up into rotation with the Cleveland Indians and tackled the matches quite well, leaving a positive reaction on the team and the fan base.
