Welterweight legacy and MMA champion Jake Shields found himself amidst a sense of renewed amusement. On Oct. 21, Shields took to X, to post about claims that some of the Islamic populous wanted him dead. He retorted back light-heartedly at this. These claims were from an outside party, in regards to the ongoing global Israel-Palestine conflict and the attack by Hamas.
Shields is outstandingly known for his pro-justice demeanor on major matters. Back in 2020, he and Ramsey Nijem had gotten into a scuffle with MMA commentator Ariel Helwani. on pro-Palestine sentiments. Helwani, who was separated from the promotion and now runs his own show, had commented in some controversial manner. Nijem had mocked him on it, mentioning that his father had mentioned Palestinians are not even human.
Speaking on social media, on the current matter, Shields said:
"A bunch of MAGA Boomers who have likely never left the country are telling me Muslims hate me and want me dead Whenever I'm in the Middle East I have strangers invite me to their homes for lunch or tea Strange behavior from people who allegedly hate me..."
In a second tweet, he went on to add:
"When I was there for Christmas I woke up to presents and a Christmas cake despite them not celebrating the holidays Muslim sure show their hate in mysterious ways."
Other than this, Shields is known for being a nefarious submission grappler, of the best breed. He has been the last Rumble on the Rock Welterweight Champion, the only Elite XC Welterweight Champion, a former Shooto Welterweight Champion, and a former Strikeforce Middleweight Champion. He even held a 15-win streak, before facing Georges St-Pierre at UFC 129.
Shields is however not unequivocally peaceful in every context. As of late, he has been in the news a lot lately due to his non-lenient views on transgender athletics. He was also recently charged with assaulting Ex-UFC fighter, Mike Jackson.

Jake Shields shared a funny story with training partner Nick Diaz
Jake Shields has long been a training partner and friend to Nick Diaz. He has also been keeping the MMA world apprised of Diaz’s condition and return. Diaz last fought at UFC 266, when he lost to Robbie Lawler. Before that, he was on a hiatus, from a no-contest at UFC 183 when he took on Anderson Silva. Diaz had tested positive for marijuana. Shields recently talked about a funny interaction between the two during a sparring session.

Shields mentions a story of a day, where he got high on substances before sparring with Diaz. The both of them would engage in antics, taping their gloves onto their heads, and fighting in a locked cage. Although Jake Shields sparred just fine, he mentioned a high anticipation running through. Moments before the fight, he wanted hysterically to get out of the brawling session, in his tranced state.
According to Diaz’s coach, Cesar Gracie, Diaz fought Lawler with two ruptured neck disks. He was in a recovery after that. Ever since his 2015 suspension, and loss to Lawler, he had been reeling and training at intervals. Speaking to MMA Fighting, Shields had mentioned that he was gradually getting into better head-space. As of late, veteran Georges St-Pierre also revealed to MMA Fighting that the promotion had planned for Diaz and him to face off. But it fell through.
