Former UFC star Mark Hunt has announced his return to the ring in 2024. Despite nearing 50 years old, the legendary fighter has signed on to BKFC (Bareknuckle Fighting Championship). The 13-14-1 heavyweight plans to test out his mettle yet again. Recently, Hunt has mocked Dana White and the UFC on numerous occasions. The fighter also sneered at the top honcho for manipulating rules to save face during the UFC-USADA split.
The New Zealander posted the news on his Instagram account. ‘From The Stands’ MMA (@FTS_MMA) – an Australian Combat Sports Media Outlet, promoted it. Combat Sports Today News took to X to announce the matter, stating that “The Super Samoan is back.” Hunt left the promotion after three consecutive skids. His last victory was against Derrick Lewis on the June 11th Fight Night (TKO).
The same year (2017), Hunt was pulled from the UFC Sydney Fight Card after divulging CTE symptoms. He was set to face Marcin Tybura on Nov. 18, but Fabricio Werdum stepped in as a replacement. Currently, few fight fans have complained about the said ailment, not being too excited about his return at such an old age.
Also, Hunt’s checkered streak also saw him lose his legal battles against the UFC CEO and peer Brock Lesnar. White had called him “Bit of a delusional guy,” retorting to the matter. Now, as the fighter transitions to bare-knuckle fighting, things are bound to take better shape.
