In an interview with Aaron Bronsteter, Umar gave fans the full details on Khabib‘s retirement from MMA. Earlier in the week Khabib announced his retirement from coaching and cornering. “I don’t think he can stop, he will still control me and my brother, some other guys, but not the same (way), he doesn’t want to travel, doesn’t want to come to camps and stay with us for a couple of months”, Umar said reacting to the news.
The UFC Bantamweight also said that Khabib might not be able to fully let go of MMA. He says that Khabib will still be training him and the other guys when in Dagestan, and still advise on weight cuts and fights. “He doesn’t want to travel, leave his mother in Dagestan….it’s not easy which is why he took this decision”, the fighter said.
All the fight fans gave up on Khabib coming back to the octagon for the rare “30-0″ but were sure he wasn’t going to come back to the octagon for it. Fans were happy with him being in the corner side of fighters like Islam Makhachev, but even this didn’t last for long.
