Fabio Quartararo had started the season in style. The French rider seemed to have proper momentum going into every race weekend. However, since the start of the second half of the 2022 MotoGP season, Pecco Bagnaia and Ducati laid down a proper charge that took Fabio and Yamaha by surprise. The beasts in red dominated almost every race as it became abundantly clear as to who had the better engine.

The Yamaha has an obvious disadvantage which lies in its top speed. Ducati excels in that area which has led to them winning the manufacturer’s and constructor’s championship. However the rider’s championship is still up for grabs which feels weird to report after the horrible luck that Fabio Quartararo has had in the last few races leading a massive points gap being turned into a 23 point lead held by Pecco Bagnaia after the Sepang race.

The race itself showed how Fabio wasn’t willing to give up on his title hopes after starting in 12th and finishing in 3rd ahead of Pecco who claimed the top spot of the podium. It’s fair to say that this wasn’t the outcome that anyone expected after qualifying at the Sepang MotoGP race weekend. Here is what the Yamaha rider had to say about his nerve racking performance in Malaysia.

Fabio Quartararo can still become the Reigning World Champion

Here is what the 2021 world champion had to say about the whole situation. “At the end, he was 1.5s then he came back to two, three tenths from me,” Quartararo said of Bezzecchi. “But I pushed like hell because I knew if he overtook me and Pecco won, he would have been world champion. “But especially I wanted the podium, so I knew if he overtook me I would be able to overtake him again,” he said.

“I will prepare myself like a crazy man, because I know the only solution for me to fight there will be to win,” he added.
“It doesn’t matter, but I want to enjoy the Valencia race because it’s the last one of the season, then I will see how I’m doing. But I feel we have to enjoy the Valencia race,”
he continued.

While the gap is too substantial for Fabio Quartararo to close at the final race, the possibility of him doing it isn’t zero. It’s obvious that anything can happen in the sport and the way that bad luck had been a massive factor in determining results for the title contenders this season, anything can happen and will happen. Although one thing is clear. Whoever comes out on top in Valencia has done everything to deserve the title of MotoGP world champion.
