The 2023 Mugello MotoGP weekend was one for the books for Ducati factory rider Pecco Bagnaia. Being an Italian and racing for an Italian team in their home race was an honour itself. However, Pecco exceeded expectations and went on to impress the paddock with his performances during the Italian MotoGP weekend. However, some individuals were still a bit critical.
Pecco Bagnaia emerged victorious in Mugello and that too in style. The Ducati MotoGP rider went on to win the sprint race and the main race that takes place on Sunday. Across the two races, it was a dominating performance from Pecco who led all but one lap throughout the two races. He had gotten immense pressure from championship rival Marco Bezzecchi and Jorge Martin throughout the weekend.
However, he didn’t fold in and make any mistakes like many in the paddock expected him to. Ever since Pecco Bagnaia crashed out of the lead at COTA during round 3. However, he has also gone on to redeem himself having won three out of the six races. Winning in Italy whilst driving for an Italian team and hailing from the same country is something that money can’t buy.
Pecco Bagnaia can’t seem to get the unnecessary criticism thrown towards him

In an interview, here is what he had to say. “It’s been years already,” said Bagnaia. “When you are in the front everybody is happy but when you are behind everybody starts to speak bad about you. But not just with me, with everyone. Like I said [before] we are human. I don’t pay so much attention to that right now. In the past I did so more,” the Ducati MotoGP rider stated.
Pecco Bagnaia’s win in Mugello was sensational. Many compared the experience of the crowd to that of Valentino Rossi’s time winning in Mugello. Absolute scenes all around for the fans which contributed to a crazy atmosphere. With the Italian already leading the MotoGP riders world championship, it will be interesting to see how things go from here.
