Marc Marquez
Marc Marquez is a 6 time MotoGP World Champion. The Spaniard had an incredibly successful stint with the Honda Factory team between 2013 and 2019. He signed an usually long contract extension with the team in 2020. His latest contract will see him competing for Honda at least until the end of 2024. This means that the Spanish two wheel veteran is fully motivated to overturn the manufacturer’s poor performances that took place in his absence.
A few months after signing the contract, Marc Marquez suffered from a series of potentially career ending injuries. He initially suffered a clean break in his humerus after he lost control of his bike while chasing Fabio Quartararo. The Spanish rider had to undergo several surgeries and missed the entirety of 2020 owing to his injury. However, all hope wasn’t lost for the Honda rider.
He returned to competing full-time in the premiere class in 2022 and registered the single worst championship result where he finished 13th. The lowest in his MotoGP career. The Spaniard’s professional racing career looked in serious jeapordy after his dip in performance. He underwent his 4th and final operation in July and has claimed to have regained his competitive ability.
“Now i’m happy again,” Marc Marquez is satisfied with his rehabilitation
In a recent interview, Marquez revealed that he considered retirement before his final operation which corrected a 30 degree rotation of his humerus. “Now I’m fine. I was asked six months ago and… because before the arm operation, the last operation, well. Before I had the last operation on my arm, retiring was a big option at the age of 29. But now, well, now I’m happy again. There is no pain.” he said.
Fans of the rider are ecstatic to hear the news of his recovery and would be hoping for a return to Championship Winning ways for ‘the ant of cervera’. Notably, MotoGP conducted it’s pre-season test at Sepang a while ago. The premier class of MotoGP is all set to return with Grand Prix racing in the first week of March. It will be interesting to see how Marc Marquez fares against the young guns of the modern era.
