Austin Dillon and Cody Ware collided in the New Hampshire Cup race on Sunday. With just 50 laps in the race, the RWR driver slammed into the wall after making contact. This left Dillon fuming on the team radio.

Before the wreck, Austin Dillon and Cody Ware actually made contact even in Stage 1 of the race. The Richard Childress Racing driver was trying to stay on the lead lap, when the incident forced Ware to spin out on-track. Cody Ware seemingly tried to get payback for the incident later on in the race.

Though this ended up in the disaster as the Rick Ware Racing driver slammed into the barriers. Austin Dillon did not hold back his anger over Ware’s chaotic driving. The RCR star labeled his rival as an ‘idiot’ on the grid. Dillon even questioned whether Rick Ware should even be in the field.

What an idiot. What an idiot. Why is he out here?

Austin Dillion said on team radio.

The Chevrolet driver still managed to make some progress by the end of the race. Austin Dillon finished in P13 after starting in P28, not a bad outing for the RCR star. Dillion was eliminated from the Playoffs after the Round of 16. On the other hand, his teammate Kyle Busch finished in P30.

Austin Dillon confesses he ‘fought hard’ at New Hampshire

The New Hampshire weekend was not an easy one for certainly not an Austin Dillon. RCR is no longer a top force in the Cup Series, and this is evident by the results. Nevertheless, a top 15 finish is not the worst, considering the chaos Dillion had to face on-track.

After the race, the Chevy star admitted that he really had to battle hard this time around. Austin Dillon pointed out that he faced some difficulties at the start of the race. The RCR crew was constantly making changes in the pitlane to ensure that Dillion could maximize his pace out on-track.

We fought hard for that one. The car was more rigid over the bumps and lacked rear grip at the beginning. We got on the other side of that but then were too tight. (Crew chief Richard) Boswell and the guys kept making adjustments, and we definitely made it better.

Austin Dillion said as quoted by Autogear.pt.

On the surface, it might seem futile for NASCAR drivers outside the Playoffs to race in the final ten races. However, this presents an opportunity for the likes of Austin Dillon to not only upset the frontrunners, but even standout from the rest.

Though Dillion is unlikely to make his way to Victory Lane in the coming races if RCR cannot improve. Thus, fans would need to wait and see how things pan out for the Chevy star in the next few rounds.
