The NASCAR Cup Series race last race week witnessed one of the wildest moments of the season, when Carson Hocevar and Ryan Blaney threw punches at each other over their stage three wreck on Saturday night. It has since been the major topic of discussion in the stock car racing community.
23XI Racing veteran Bubba Wallace talked about the incident that involved one of his closest friends and highlighted how he never expected the drama to playout the way it did. He was waiting for some verbal drama, maybe a heated confrontation, but not a fight, as hie friend never been the guy that instigated physical confrontation.
I was just sitting there thinking, ‘Oh boy, he’s gonna be pissed,’ I can’t wait to hear about what he’s gonna say to Carson. Or what he’s gonna do to Carson. And then not do it. Was I wrong? Holy cow.
Bubba Wallace told Peter Stratta.
"The message is FAFO…"

"Race people the way they race you, and don't take crap…"
"I got receipts for sure…" @BubbaWallace had a few candid comments on how he perceives @CarsonHocevar now on-track, and shares that he did reach out to @Blaney late Saturday night after the… pic.twitter.com/qExIiZlbBt
Further talking about the point, Bubba Wallace highlighted how the No:12 Ford driver ate the two punches from Carson Hocevar and how the security getting involved the way they did made him end up in the ground. It was the most entertaining and surprising moment of the 2026 season.
I was surprised. I was surprised that he went up to him and how that all unfolded. It was funny how he ate two punches. And I mean, he ate them. They didn’t look very hard, but he admitted he got his ass kicked, and he did, sure. But he came back and I think he got a swing in. So yeah, it was entertaining. Definitely surprising.
Bubba Wallace added.
The veteran then explained the FAFO message Ryan Blaney has sent with the whole drama. The incident showed the frustration that existed over Hocevar controversies in the garage and the level of respect to disrespect in the sport.
I think the message that it sends FAFO. Simple as that. You continue to poke the bear, you’re gonna get punched in the nose. And so, I guess in Blaney’s case, he got punched in the nose. I think for me, it’s just, again, it shows the level of respect to disrespect.
Bubba Wallace asserted.
Bubba Wallace explains how Kyle Larson fight has changed rivals’ attitude towards him
The 23XI Racing driver has been in a same spot as Hocevar, as he punched Kyle Larson a couple of years ago at Las Vegas after a wild wreck. They he doesn’t want to justify the drama, he felt the moment helped him to send a message to the garage that he won’t let aggression slide and he feels that helped them earn some respect.

I don’t want that message to come across from my camp, me as a driver, my team, that I’m going to let anybody run us over, ruin our race just because the hell of it… There’s going to be consequences and repercussions, whether it’s on my side or not. You know, I don’t justify anything I’ve done at Vegas to Larson… And that’s OK, because at the end of the day, I’m sticking up for my team and how we were disrespected in that moment. And I haven’t been disrespected since.
Bubba Wallace said.
The same might not happen for Blaney with the Hocevar drama, but there would be some changes to the way how the duo races when they face each other next times on the track. One of them is going to give the other a break and the question is who it’s going to be.
