Team Penske Racing’s 2023 Cup champion Ryan Blaney getting involved in a fight with Carson Hocevar was not in anyone’s cards in the 2026 season. But when it comes to Bristol night races the community always braces for surprises and that’s exactly what they got when they duo throw punches at each other over a stage three wreck.
Even Bubba Wallace, the 23XI Racing star driver who is one of the closest friends of the champion racer, never expected to see this side of Ford driver on live TV. Talking about it he admitted that he is proud of the No:12 driver for the passion and wants to get more details about what led to it by having a conversation over beer.
I was just trying to figure out what was going on. I was proud of Blaney for having some passion. I don’t know what led to that, I’ve just seen the aftermath of him in the wall, but I’ll have a beer with him and figure it out.
Bubba Wallace said about the incident.
When asked whether if he had ever seen his friend Ryan Blaney being this aggressive and frustrated, Bubba Wallace admitted that it is the first time he is seeing this side of Roger Penske’s driver. Many in the community would agree with the observation, as other than the radio rants, the former champion has always been one of the most composed drivers out there.
No, that surprised the **** out of me.

Jeff Burton breaks silence on the Carson Hocevar-Ryan Blaney fight
Hall of Famer Jeff Burton talked about the drama post-race and highlighted how Hocevar is getting the garage frustrated by getting involved in one incident after another. The punch was coming for Hocevar for a long-time and the legend is surprised it took this long to happen.

This incident, in and of itself, no big deal, but it’s incident after incident after incident where the garage gets tired of it and this is where this spills over. This is bound to happen. It’s just a matter of time, and I’ll be honest, I’m surprised it took this long.
Jeff Burton said.
The ex-race has warned the youngster many times in the past the driver would stop giving him breaks when he consistently gets involved in controversies. So far, the big names of the sport never stood up the youngster other than speaking on the mike and now with the confrontation, more drivers would be inspired to stand their ground.
And you have to know that’s who you’re racing. In the same token, I’ve said before, the garage, at some point, is going to get tired of it, and they’re not going to give him any slack. And no one has really stood up to him, to be honest with you. Blaney is the first one to really confront him in a big, big way. It will continue to happen.
Jeff Burton added.
The community is split about the incident, as some are backing Blaney while others are still behind the youngster highlighting how much entertainment value he brings in. It would be interesting to see how the drama is going to playout in the coming days.
