The NASCAR community was shocked when Daniel Suarez announced that he and Trackhouse Racing has decided to mutually part ways at the end of the season. His future with the team was in question from the start of the season, with the veteran poor form and Conor Zilisch proving his worth in the Xfinity Series with JR Motorsports as well as in his selected cup appearances.
In the statement he released on X, Daniel Suarez admitted that he knew about the exit for a long-time and was waiting for it to be public. He is looking for the new chapter of his life, after the upcoming exit from the team that earned his only two wins of the sport. Saurez alongside Ross Chastain played a major role in Trackhouse’s rise to prominence.
Trackhouse and I have mutually agreed to part ways at the end of the 2025 season. I’ve had some of the best years of my Cup Series career at Trackhouse. We had great successes as a team and I gained some incredible friends. We took a team nobody had even heard of in 2021 and in just a couple of years we were winning races and running upfront on a weekly basis.

Ex-NASCAR crew chief Steve Letarte sees it as the perfect time to divorce for Daniel Suarez
Former NASCAR crew chief and broadcaster Steve Letarte has also shared his thoughts on the situation and pointed out that it was a business decision made on the right time by the team. The team has Zilisch waiting in the sideline, has also proved he is ready for the big league, and it was understood that it’s Suarez career on the line.

I think this was a business decision. Why now? I actually applaud the parties involved for a couple of reasons. Trackhouse has to move forward with their plan. I think we can all assume what it is. They have a bunch of drivers in the pipeline. One being Connor Zilisch… If something was going to happen, Daniel has to go out and find a ride.
Steve Letarte said.
He then coldly asserted that the only way to ensure the No:99 team is successful this season as the situation will put pressure on both the drivers and the team to continue performing on the high level. But at the same time there are there are possibility of the relationships between the driver and team going sour if things aren’t managed correctly.
So, I will tell you that while this is uncomfortable, I think this is the way to do it because I think this is the only way this 99 has success to finish this year off. If this happens, in the shadows and in the whispers and doesn’t become official, how does Daniel move forward? How does Trackhouse move forward without the relationship becoming more sour?
Steve Letarte added.
The comments from the NASCAR veteran shows there is potential of more dram happening regarding the situation. It would be interesting to see how everything is going to playout in the future of Danile Suarez and Trackhouse Racing.
